You've done everything "right." So why does nothing stick?
You've Googled your symptoms at 2am. You've tried the elimination diets, the supplements, the advice from the specialist who barely looked up from their screen. You've pushed through flare days, paid for it later, and then started the cycle all over again.
And somewhere along the way, food stopped feeling like something that nourished you — and started feeling like a minefield.
If you're nodding along, you're not alone. And you're definitely not imagining it.
Living with chronic illness — whether that's endometriosis, PCOS, hypermobility, dysautonomia, or something still waiting for a name — means your body doesn't follow the standard rulebook. So generic nutrition advice often doesn't either.
What you need isn't another restrictive protocol. You need someone who actually understands what it's like to manage a body that doesn't behave predictably — and who can help you work with it, not against it.
What a Spoonie Session actually looks like
Spoonie Sessions are one-on-one nutrition consultations — online, flexible, and built around your body, your symptoms, and your life. Think of it like traditional dietetics, but with a practitioner who gets the spoonie experience from the inside out.
You can book a single session when you need it, or continue on at whatever pace works for you. No lock-in, no pressure.

From a dietitian who truly gets it
Hey, I'm Emma — dietitian, endo warrior, POTSie, spoonie, and the founder of The Spoonie Dietitian.
I built this practice because I know what it's like to sit across from a health professional and feel dismissed, handed a generic diet, or told your symptoms are "just stress." I've been there. And I know how exhausting it is to keep trying to advocate for yourself when you're already running on empty.
So I created the kind of support I wish I'd had: compassionate, no-nonsense nutrition care that meets you exactly where you are — with lived experience to back it up, and the evidence to go with it.
No judgment. No guilt. No diets that make everything worse.
Just practical, personalised support to help you manage your symptoms, understand your body, and find a way of eating that actually feels good to live with.

Questions? Here are some common ones.
Still have a question that isn't answered here?
-
An initial 60-minute consultation is $180, and a 30-minute review consultation is $90. Sessions may be eligible for a Medicare rebate under a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan — talk to your GP about a referral. Private health fund rebates may also apply.
-
No referral is needed to book directly. However, if you'd like to access a Medicare CDM rebate, you'll need a referral from your GP first.
-
All Spoonie Sessions are held online via Google Meet, so you can join from home — or wherever you're at on the day. No travel, no waiting rooms.
-
Within 3 business days you'll receive a written session summary and any personalised resources we discussed. Everything in writing, so you don't have to rely on memory.
-
Not at all. You can book a one-off session whenever you need support, or continue at a pace that works for you. At the end of each appointment, you'll have the option to book your next session — but there's absolutely no obligation.
